Ajman Population and Demographic Composition
The tenth ruler of Ajman, H.H. Sheikh Humaid Bin Rashid al Nuaimi set the cornerstone for the development of the city in 1981 when he started ruling it. The year 1950 set the pinnacle for the population growth of Ajman. By 2030, Ajman’s population is expected to reach 586,395, indicating its ongoing popularity as a place to live and work.
Ajman’s Population Growth Over The Years
From 1950 to 1975, the population grew from 231 residents to 24,783. It broke all the records in 2015 when the population touched 412,566. This eventually led to 418,000 people living in Ajman in 2023. It also shows an increase of at least 1.5% population growth every year.
In 2024, the number of people continued. The reason behind this earth-shattering population growth in Ajman is its offering where people were getting new homes and jobs. Not only that, the sandy beaches, calm coastal atmosphere, and rugged Hajjar mountains also acted as key attractions of Ajman followed by the development of a lively urban center.
Ajman’s GDP Growth
Currently manufacturing industries contribute 18.9% to Ajman’s GDP, while wholesale, retail trade and vehicle repair contribute 18.31%. The latter also represents Ajman’s role as a strategist investor in a busy commercial center. Besides that, Ajman has ongoing Urban development and infrastructure projects, contributing 17.36% to its GDP.
Last year, Ajman’s GDP was over AED 36 billion. It was a tremendous achievement as the emirate’s GDP in 2022 was around AED 33.9 billion. However, Ajman has more men than women. There are 188 males for every 100 females because many foreign men come to UAE and Ajman for work purposes.

Ajman comes along with a rich history and diverse culture. Its current population is approximately 418,000. Ajman has a strong economy just like the other emirates in UAE. The key role that plays part in the importance of Ajman is its location and growing industries. Ajman is the perfect place in UAE that balances between traditional and modern lifestyle. Perhaps this is one of the reasons this emirate has been so successful in attracting residents, visitors and investors.
